Image spectroscopy in our studies is implemented using an Applied Spectral Imaging (ASI) hyperspectral camera. Table 1 presents the technical specifications of this camera (http://www.spectral-imaging.com/).

The camera contains interferometer with a mechanical beam splitter controlled by software that enables various optical path differences (OPD). Each OPD generates an interferogram, later on translated via Fourier Transform to wavelengths with corresponding intensities.

The spectral resolution depends on OPD and exposure time which needs to be set prior to data acquisition. Full width half maximum (FWHM) ranges between 2.5 nm to 15 nm according to previous parameters, and it affects the number of bands (layers) composing the spectral cube (hyerspectral image), as well as the file size. The number of layers is varied between 63 to120, and the average file size is 80 MB. Spatial resolution depends on distances from the examined object and on lens properties.
